HAIR RESTORATION

Increase hair thickness and density with a series of PRP injections, aimed to stop hair loss.

ABOUT HAIR RESTORATION

wHAT IT IS

Prior to treatment, we’ll discuss what brought on your hair loss and do a scalp assessment.

During the treatment, we will do a blood draw from the arm and then spin the blood through a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma and concentrate the platelets.

Next we’ll make a series of quick PRP hair injections in each area of hair loss.

While the injections themselves take only a few minutes, the entire process can run up to an hour. You should be fine going back to your normal activities right afterward, however, there are some post-procedure restrictions (when it’s safe to resume exercise, hair washing, hair coloring, etc.).

Most patients who experience hair shedding should begin to see results within four months.

how it works

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection therapy is a nonsurgical hair-loss treatment that involves injecting platelets, extracted from your own blood, into your scalp to restore thinning hair.

PRP injections can be extremely effective for stress or age-related hair loss, as well as alopecia, the disease that causes hair thinning in young, otherwise healthy people. This is a popular and successful treatment option for both men and women.

The goal of this treatment is to stimulate the hair follicles and slow down the rate of hair loss. In some cases, it may even help regrow hair.

PRP injections are always performed as a series of treatments. The number of treatments will be determined by your baseline as well as your end goal. Maintenance is then ongoing for optimal results.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The platelets in your blood contain growth factors, which act as cell-signaling proteins that tell the body to heal and restore itself.

During a PRP hair restoration procedure, we separate platelets from your blood, and inject the concentrated growth factors that remain.

When injected into the scalp, PRP increases blood flow to hair follicles, may stimulate some new hair growth (although not in every patient), and lengthens the anagen (active) growth phase of existing hair, to slow hair loss.

The treatment stimulates the dormant hair follicles to regrow, resulting in an increased number of hair follicles and increased thickness in the hair shaft.

FAQs

  • The best candidates for treatment include:

Early male- or female-pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia)

Thinning hair on the scalp or along the hairline, especially near the temples

Metabolically induced hair thinning or loss

PRP treatments can also be used preventatively to maintain your hair’s thickness over time!

  • Results vary from person to person, however in general most patients see 6-12 month longevity.

It takes about 3 months to begin seeing optimal results and once you’ve completed your series of treatments, then a maintenance schedule goes into effect (usually once or twice a year) to maintain hair count and density.

  • There is little to no downtime, however, there are specific pre and post-care instructions you must follow. For example limiting caffeine intake prior to treatment and waiting the appropriate time before washing or coloring your hair after. All of these instructions will be covered during your consultation.

In general, other than temporary soreness at the injection sites, there is no additional downtime.
